Design is also in outdoor spaces. And in knowing how to merge the interior design of a home or hotel with the terrace or garden, with the idea that they blend as a single space. This is what we mean when we talk about creating continuity between indoors and outdoors. It is the way to close the circle in the design of spaces, offering clients an integral project that arises from the sum of both.
How do landscaping and interior design relate to each other? What should the garden be like? What will it contribute to the lives of the people who will live in this living space? What is clear to us in our Barcelona landscaping studio is that we always carry out a tailor-made project, intending to implement nature in its maximum expression. “These open-air living spaces respond to the desire to create highly concentrated pockets of beauty where the interaction between nature and people can be enhanced,” explains landscape designer Manuel Maíllo.
In our landscaping studio, we love sensations, both indoors and outdoors, smells, and textures… and we transfer all of this to our outdoor designs. “It’s like a way of understanding life thanks to which we can transfer nature to small spaces and try to imitate it by promoting the sensations of colors, aromas…”.
We design gardens, penthouse terraces, and all kinds of green spaces from our studio in Barcelona, finding a way to integrate nature into the project, whether it is an urban, beach, or mountain project. To do it we have an outdoor design team made up of landscape designers and agronomists who know how important it is to implement each element in outdoor spaces and make their continuity to the interior to enjoy them during all months of the year.
Is it challenging to maintain a garden or outdoor space?
It is relative, it depends mainly on the m2, but to make it easier, in Natural Gardens (the landscaping department of Tinda’s Project), we usually present the client with a good selection of low-maintenance species, as well as an efficient automatic irrigation system, so it should not be too difficult.
How important is an outdoor space?
To make a garden or terrace is to gain square meters to your home and the use you make of it. Regardless of the size of the deck or garden, if you create a space that can be enjoyed, it could be an area to relax, play with the children, or an outdoor office.

What do spaces with plants offer us in terms of well-being?
Living in big cities and leading busy lives increasingly prevents us from spending time outdoors in nature.
Nowadays, there is what is known as nature deficit disorder (NDD). It refers to the total disconnection we have from nature outdoors. So, integrating outdoor spaces with plants and vegetation in our home can be restorative and therapeutic for better oxygenation and air purification.
People and the market are already becoming aware of this, and we can see more and more efforts to naturalize our environment.
